What are the 5 key “Retail Challenges”

The Internet has changed retail forever, but there are other contributing factors to the challenging retail climate. Making the right decisions in a rapidly changing marketplace is challenging for all.

Whichever way you turn there is turmoil in retail. However, its key to remember that there are some retailers reporting amazing trading performances against a backdrop of stories about the extreme challenges and failures of other retailers.

The UK Digital Retail Innovation Centre (UK:DRIC) launches on the 30th May. It will be the national centre for testing and developing disruptive digital innovations. It will help shape and inform the future of cities and places with a special focus on retail.

As we prepare to launch the UK:DRIC , we are working with Maybe*, to reach retailers and retail influencers to identify the Top 5 retail challenges. 10 days prior to the 30th May launch, we’ll collate the responses and share the top challenges identified with thousands of consumers, and using a chatbot we will ask for their thoughts too.

We will then compare the findings and reveal the results at the UK:DRIC launch. To start this process we’re asking retailers and retail Influencers to respond via Twitter, sharing their top 5 retail challenges, tagging in @UKDRIC and the hashtag  #futureofretail.

We look forward to getting this conversation started. Please join us by sharing your top 5 retail challenges, the only wrong answer is no answer.

Diane Savory, OBE DL Chair at GFirst LEP says:

"Gfirst LEP are pleased to be an enabler of this project. The UK:DRIC will offer an opportunity to turn the digital challenge into a bigger discussion that all retailers and place makers, regardless of size, can learn from.  Customers are adapting to new technologies faster than many businesses and I hope that this Centre helps more retailers and High Street stakeholders understand how this affects their approach to doing business whilst showing the opportunity of digital, technology and AI."

The UK:DRIC launch event is an opportunity for retailers to meet the future of retail technology business approach toses, and is being held on the 30th May 2019 11am - 1pm at Gloucester UK Digital Retail Innovation Centre, Eastgate Shopping Centre, GL1 1AG.
